Whoa! The internet is angry. Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, YouTube — everyone seems to be talking about net neutrality. What’s the big deal? Why do you keep seeing this red image posted with “URGENT” everywhere?

Yesterday, the Federal Communications Commission announced that they plan to vote on December 15th to remove internet protections that were implemented in 2015. These protections essentially told ISP’s (companies like Comcast, Time Warner, AT&T, Cox, Verizon, etc.) that they had to treat internet connections equally with no discrimination.

Why Should I Care?

Here’s what the future will likely look like:

  • You will pay for Internet like you pay for cable…

Recently, a good friend of mine and I have been trying to teach ourselves machine learning. According to many industry experts, it’s a necessary next step in the programming world to stay gainfully employed for the next 10–15 years.

Note: If you’ve heard the same but aren’t sure where to start, I’d point you to this incredible Medium post and this Coursera course to start.

One of the things we quickly ran into was needing a data set. While there are plenty of incredibly interesting data sets in the world that you can download for free, we have specific interests…

Laguna Beach — breathtakingly beautiful

Do you ever go to an art gallery, stare at a painting, and wonder why in the world it evokes such strong emotions? I didn’t really “get it” when I was younger, and sometimes, I feel like I still don’t, but every once in a while, I see something that makes me stop. It makes me feel. That’s what Jeff Bryner’s art did to me. It made me stop. It made me think.

What word comes to mind on hearing someone mention, Arizona? Hot? Dry? Cactus? Scorpions? Those are a few of the most common associations and while there is absolutely some truth to those, there’s so much more to the state. It’s a beautiful oasis. It’s stunning red rock formations, breathtaking mountain summits, and lush forests among other things. You have to know where to look.

Today, I want to take you to Thatcher, AZ. It’s located in Southeastern Arizona about 170 miles south of Phoenix. …

We live in an amazing world. There are billions of us now on Earth today and each person has their own life, families, hobbies, and passions. Even with the issues that we currently face, it’s impossible to deny that humanity is absolutely incredible. Look at all the things we’ve built, the books written, the songs sung, and the relationships we’ve developed amongst ourselves. The best part is things are continuously getting better — worldwide, less people are living in poverty, there is less hunger, and less war.

However, as we’re all aware it’s not sunshine and rainbows as far as…

The surest thing there is is we are riders,
And though none too successful at it, guiders,
Through everything presented, land and tide
And now the very air, of what we ride.

What is this talked-of mystery of birth
But being mounted bareback on the earth?
We can just see the infant up astride,
His small fist buried in the bushy hide.

There is our wildest mount- a headless horse.
But though it runs unbridled off its course,
And all our blandishments would seem defied,
We have ideas yet that we haven’t tried.
